Ok, I hope I can clarify a bit about Buddhist diet for Westerners. But if you're not interested in reading further, then just know that if you're vegetarian or vegan, it's better to visit Vietnam than Thailand. The only Buddhist diet that is strictly vegetarian is in China (except Tibetan monks who eats meats), Vietnam and Korea. All other Buddhist monks in other countries has defiled the Buddha's teachings to the point where they think eating the mutilated body parts of sentient beings brutally murdered in slaughterhouses are in line with the Buddha's teaching of compassion for all sentient beings. These meat-eating monks includes Tibetan monks, Thai monks, Cambodian monks, Burmese monks and Japanese monks. This list is not exhaustive.
The reason Buddhists started out in India as lacto-vegetarian and not vegan was probably because they didn't kill cows in India at the time of the Buddha due to the prevalence of Hinduism, and given the fact that Indians had been addicted to dairy as much as the West has been. That traditional Buddhist lacto-vegetarian diet has persisted til today among all Buddhist monks in Vietnam, China and Korea and they have not make any efforts to upgrade to veganism even though the cruelty of the dairy industry in modern time is so shocking that should require them to take a hard look at their diet. This is only criticism I have with Chinese Buddhist monks, because they should be the ones leading to make the changes to remove all dairies in their diet.
I really have a hard time addressing a vegetarian Buddhist monk as "master", which is expected of me when speaking to them due to the fact that I'm vegan, which is far superior to them in terms of compassion for animals. As for the meat-eating monks, I will not waste my time mentioning them any further except for the fact that people need to see them as the worst hypocrites among all Buddhists in the world., and that includes the dalia lama as well. All he ever does is let people worship him like a living Buddha. But would a Buddha partake in the violence of meat-eating and the mundane business of politics? He's the biggest hypocrite of all of Buddha's disciples.

Been here many times , food is great and nice just to sit have a drink and watch and smell . Also if you can go a few hours earlier and wonder around the area , the buildings , hotels and street art is amazing….. lots of coffee shops to if that’s your thing . Plus everything thing is very cheep .. one thing it’s hard to get away from fish sauce in Thailand. Great video guys
